Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, located in the center of the Teke Region, one of Turkey's highest livestock potential areas, operates with the mission of being a university specialized in livestock. The Department of Animal Nutrition and Nutrition Diseases, which is one of the most critical components of this ecosystem, is one of the leading units in its field with its academic and sectoral studies on the principles of adequate and balanced nutrition, animal health, high productivity, and animal welfare, which are the cornerstones of modern livestock.

Our department's academic staff consists of a total of six faculty members, including 2 professors, 3 associate professors, and 1 assistant professor. The current academic staff list is presented below.

Additionally, we have 2 teaching staff members selected under the Ministry of National Education's Program for Sending Students Abroad for Graduate Studies (YLSY). For this purpose, Mukaddes Merve EFİL is pursuing her doctoral education in the United States (University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign) and İmge DURU ÖNOL is continuing her doctoral studies in the United Kingdom (University of Nottingham).

Our department offers a rich curriculum aimed at equipping veterinary candidates with the technical skills required by modern livestock. A total of 9 courses are offered from the first year of undergraduate studies until graduation, with two being mandatory and seven being elective. The courses offered at the undergraduate level are shown below. Additionally, there are courses on Supervised Learning in the fourth semester and the Veterinary Medicine Internship Program (VEHİP), Seminar, and Graduation Project in the tenth (final) semester. Our department also plays an active role in graduate education. Master's and doctoral programs with thesis are actively conducted within the Institute of Health Sciences and are in high demand by veterinarians.

The laboratories within our department are equipped with the technical infrastructure to perform the basic analysis methods in the field of animal nutrition. Our laboratories are used for student training and also accept external samples to serve regional and national livestock. Our department, which is open to the public and the sector, provides feed analysis, ration preparation, and scientific consultancy services aimed at the livestock sector. Faculty members from our department also participate in training programs organized by our university for small, medium, and large-scale enterprises operating in the field of livestock.
